Prompt Ten: HORIZON
I have been thinking a lot about a lot of people being confined indoors and to small geographic areas. I've also been feeling very jealous of pals who live in the countryside or by the sea who at least can get some sense of space when they venture briefly outside. So I've picked one word, which I think opens up to a lot of possibilities, and that is:
HORIZON
That’s it - our last prompt! Big thanks to the excellent Luke Turner for this one, author of Out of the Woods, an intoxicating and admirably frank memoir about bisexuality and Epping Forest. Founder of independent music website The Quietus, his next book, Men at War, will explore the hidden queer narratives of World War Two - it sounds fascinating.
I hope you’ve enjoyed responding to these prompts as much as I have. And hey - you now have up to ten short pieces to develop into something bigger. Is there one you’d like to work on more? I’d love to hear where your writing journey takes you, so please keep me posted. You can find me on twitter: @ambermb or instagram: @amblomfield.
I’ll keep this mailing list going as a place to share semi-regular updates: reflections on writing life, tips and prompts. I may also try out running some online nonfiction writing classes at some stage…
One last thing, if you’ve enjoyed this free series of writing prompts and are able to do so, you can thank me and the writers who have contributed by making a donation to The Wildlife Trusts, or another charitable cause you believe in.
Thanks so much for being a part of this - it’s been such fun!
Keep writing.
