Prompt Seven: Refuse To Make Excuses
I write because I am unsatisfied with this world and I refuse to make excuses for it. My imagination desires more, always.
Writing towards something means writing together. If we were to build another world, another life, another way of being, it would…
Lola Olufemi is creator of this week’s prompt. She is a feminist writer and organiser from London - her new book, Feminism, Interrupted, just came out this March. She’s blistering on the shape of modern day feminism and its failings, but she’s also an immensely hopeful writer, because - as her prompt indicates - she really believes a better world is possible. She’ll be appearing as part of Bookbound 2020’s wonderful line-up in aid of Mind this Sunday 3rd May, 7.15pm, in a panel discussion on ‘Crimes of the Feminist Activist’. Do check it out. Thank you Lola.
As ever, you can share your writing here, or email it to me at ambermblomfield@gmail.com and I’ll pop it in the folder for you.
As we move towards Prompt Ten, which will be the last of these prompts in the current form, I’m thinking about possible ways to sustain this and build something online to nurture nonfiction writers that’s a bit more comprehensive than my current reliance on an erratic Google folder! I’d love to hear from you on what you’d find useful: if you have ideas, please drop me a line at ambermblomfield@gmail.com.
